The City of Abbotsford is pleased to share that it has a unique opportunity for an experienced drainage and waste water Engineer to join its team as the Senior Drainage and Wastewater Engineer. Reporting to the Director of Utilities Infrastructure, the Engineer will oversee long-term capital plans for diking, drainage and irrigation related projects, the JAMES Wastewater Treatment Plant and the City sewer collection system. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that infrastructure capacity aligns with projected growth and developing the Development Cost Charge Program.

This position has overall responsibility for the safe and effective operation and maintenance of CRD water and wastewater utilities serving the Electoral Areas: Salt Spring Island, Southern Gulf Islands and Juan de Fuca. The position provides leadership, technical expertise and direction, contract management oversight as well as ensuring optimal treatment and distribution/collection system performance and regulatory compliance.

Reporting to the Manager, Water/Wastewater, the Water/Wastewater Compliance Coordinator is responsible for developing and maintaining programs, standard and emergency operating procedures, policies, practices and audits related to regulatory compliance with applicable Federal and Provincial Acts and Regulations, including maintaining the Town’s Drinking Water Quality Management Standard (DWQMS). The position will be responsible for developing, maintaining and monitoring the Water/Wastewater Services training program.

We are looking for a dynamic and forward-thinking individual to focus on improving operating and maintenance efficiency throughout the various water distribution systems. Reporting to the Utilities Supervisor Operations, Water, the Utilities Technician will be responsible for the regular operation repair and maintenance of the water distribution system including all relevant appurtenances.

The Water Operator will be responsible for day-to-day operation and maintenance of the Town’s Class III water supply and distribution system.
