Job Profile

The AMI (Automated Meter Infrastructure) Technologist will participate in the planning, management and administration of advanced metering infrastructure. This position is responsible for the following duties:

What you will be doing

• Creating and updating SOP’s, Work Programs
• Participates in the planning, development, and implementation of training effort for field personnel. Develops and administers AMI-related policies, guidelines, training, and criteria for field personnel.
• Reviewing and coordinating internal water meter requests, tasks, and issues for scheduling
• Handling customer complaints re: water/sewer billing discrepancies &/or metering issues
• Reviewing contracted service work (on-site) for conformance with City standards
• Trouble Shooting issues with AMI system and dispatching proper workforce IE; City Staff or Contractor
• Review and asses alarms; Analyze water usage patterns
• Contracted Services- Status Review (on & off-site)
• Updating quality documentation/SOP creation/revision
• Co-ordination of industrial/commercial metering work for following week
• Review and coordination of weekly meter repair schedule.
• Review AMI and MDM system and perform data quality and system analysis
• Monthly status reporting for contracted services
• Coordination of disconnection services for customers not providing access.
• Provide monthly status report on AMI system operation

Education

Three-year college diploma in Engineering Technology or Applied Science Program.
Certified Engineering Technologist certificate through Ontario Association of Certified Technicians and Technologist (OACETI)

Experience and Knowledge

• Two to three years’ experience working within a licensed municipal drinking water
distribution and sewer collection system
• General understanding of industrial processes impacting water & or wastewater
• Understanding of Water meters
• Project management supervision
• The ability to analyze and interpret water data
• Knowledgeable and proficient in the use of all manner of technologies and computer applications including (but not limited to) Microsoft Office Suite, internet, adobe Reader, Maximo, On Point, Work Management System(s), Maximo, Vailtech, Water Billing System(s)
• Excellent Customer escalated requests

We are looking for these certificates

Certified Engineering Technologist (CET)

We will ask you for these items if you are hired

• Proof of your current and valid certificate(s) and/or educational qualifications.
• Valid G driver’s license.
• Worker Health and Safety Awareness Training certificate from the Ministry of Labour. (may be obtained post offer)

Your compensation

This position is within the inside workers union salary schedule and the annual salary range is $65,621 to $69,743.
Comprehensive benefits package included.
Enrolment in Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS).

Location of position

This position is located at the Public Works Division, Cambridge, Ontario

Hours of work

Hours of work are 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Hours of work are subject to change to meet operational requirements
