Asset Maintenance Specialist (CMMS)

In this role, you will be instrumental in leading the transition of the current CMMS software to a new CMMS operating platform. The role will be all encompassing – from project planning, asset validation, development and integration of work processes, to training and coaching end users. The role will then transition into that of future enhancements and refinements to provide improved CMMS data and decision-making tools. The position will also encompass updating the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) database; conducting field asset data collection, developing maintenance plans, analyzing and researching maintenance practices and procedures, and implementing findings; conducting research and evaluations into emerging technologies, equipment and maintenance methodologies; providing ongoing support and advice to management and staff on maintenance issues as they relate to CMMS and Asset Management.

This position will provide for a variety of tasks to be performed at various on-site locations within the Huron and Elgin Region, which is made up of two Class 4 water treatment plants, with respective booster stations, reservoirs and transmission main systems. The Huron plant is located just outside of Grand Bend and the Elgin plant is located east of Port Stanley. The office location will be at our Regional office south of St. Thomas.

What we are looking for:


  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of asset management principles and best practices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of maintenance practices and integration within CMMS software.
  • Advanced knowledge in the use of various software to manage data, report on data attributes, and ensure data integrity within defined standards to promote consistency and reliability.
  • Technical knowledge of the theories, principles, practices and certification related to the functional/plant areas of work in water and wastewater maintenance operations and administration.
  • Good working knowledge of Agency, regulatory and legislative acts, codes, policies, guidelines and procedures related to water/wastewater maintenance operations and health and safety.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in asset risk and condition rating processes.
  • Sound ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in written and verbal format between technical staff, operations staff, regulators, clients and management.
  • Track record in developing technical documents.
  • Extensive knowledge of project management principles/practices.
  • Knowledge of CMMS, WMS and PC software applications, with preferred experience with IBM Maximo software.

  • Excellent oral and written skills to liaise with colleagues, vendors and clients, and prepare reports.
  • Presentation skills to facilitate group meetings, conduct training sessions, and develop and execute formal presentations.
  • Skills in the evaluation of CMMS data to improve business performance and make recommendations.
  • Problem-solving, change management and analytical skills to provide guidance and resolve day-to-day issues.
  • Planning and organizational skills to lead projects.

Salary Range: $1,042.44 – $1,292.81 per week
