Co-op Student- Wastewater Operations
Duration: Six (6) months with possible extension for up to additional six (6) months

The Region of Peel Wastewater Operations within the Wastewater Division operates and maintains the wastewater linear infrastructure, sewage pumping stations, and communal treatment systems and coordinates with other areas that provide support on planning, engineering, project implementation, information technology, quality management and SCADA.
You will report to the Management team and assist the group in better implementing initiatives and programs relating to;

  • Support the Continual Improvement Process (CIP) to gather information, and analysis against existing SOP and procedures for deficiencies and areas of improvement.
  • Support the internal Quality Control and Quality Assurance (QAQC) program for the maintenance hole (MH) and sanitary sewer flushing programs.
  • Data gathering and analysis of WW collection system performance data including: interpretation of monitoring data, operational deficiencies/complaints and corrective actions, tracking preventative maintenance and equipment calibration, and CIP outcomes.
  • Data mining of several databases relative to alarms, SCAD A, work orders, and spread sheets, to identify trending and trouble spots to assist to develop a prioritization program.
  • Data mining of deficiencies discovered by CCTV inspection and/or Maintenance Hole Inspections to identify trending and trouble spots.
  • Reviewing standard operating procedures (SOP) for wastewater operations.
  • Assist in mapping business processes, preparing reports, and dashboards for WW Operations.
  • Analyze/graph linear wastewater system alarms to looking for technical and administrative issues.


• Enrolled in the university/college co-op program in the following disciplines: engineering ( civil, environmental, mechanical, chemical), and/or environmental science.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.

Compensation: $20.62 per hour.
Location: 230 Advance Blvd., Brampton; and/or 3515 Wolfedale Rd., Mississauga
Hours of Work: 35 Hours per week – Monday to Friday
