Industrial Maintenance Mechanic/Wastewater Operator

The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury is looking for a highly motivated individual to make a significant contribution to the Town’s Wastewater Collection System infrastructure which includes an expanded state of the art Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Reporting to the Wastewater Collection System Supervisor this position is responsible for the preventative maintenance program, maintaining some electrical and most of the mechanical equipment in the operation of the Wastewater Treatment Plant and Wastewater pumping stations at various locations within Bradford West Gwillimbury. The incumbent will repair/replace mechanical components on demand in the facilities to keep them in good and safe operating condition as well as assist in the day-to-day operations of the Wastewater division.  In addition, the individual will be responsible for maintaining the safe operation of mechanical components in the facilities in accordance with manufacturer requirements, Town policies and procedures and health and safety legislation.

Candidates will have completed an Industrial Mechanic Millwright apprenticeship program or similar training combined with previous experience in an industrial setting including facility maintenance (mechanical).  The successful applicant will hold an MOE OIT license or above for wastewater treatment and wastewater collection or would be willing to obtain them upon hire.  Must have knowledge of HVAC equipment and the ability to perform maintenance on this equipment as required, experience in gas and electrical welding (shielded metal arc and metal inert gas).  In addition, the candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively, professionally and courteously with all levels of staff, developers, contractors and the general public.  Knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems would be an asset. The successful candidate must possess a valid class “G” driver’s licence in good standing.

The Town offers an attractive hourly wage rate of $28.25 to $35.31 (2017 rates, under review) plus a competitive benefit package, and an opportunity to grow with us.
