Position: Lead Operator

Location: Port Loring, ON

Position Summary/Duties:

  • Operation and maintenance of drinking water facility
  • Control flow and maintain pressure within systems
  • Disinfection control
  • Monitors gauges and meters related to treatment and distribution
  • Monitor and operate valves for flow control
  • Maintain log books
  • Conducts in-house laboratory testing
  • Distribution system flushing
  • Manage SCADA system

Position Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation, regulation, approvals, guidelines and orders
  • Follow company Environmental, Health and Safety Policies
  • Regular reporting of plant performance
  • Direct/assist with maintenance activity
  • Work on-call
  • Complete in-plant lab testing and sampling
  • Work overtime/weekends as required
  • Interact with customers as necessary

 

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Valid Limited Surface Water license or Water Treatment Class 1 licenses
  • Applied knowledge of water system operations
  • Mathematical skills
  • Record keeping
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation techniques, practices, maintenance and sampling
  • Chemical analysis techniques
  • Basic computer skills/knowledge of process control
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to perform manual labour
  • Valid Ontario drivers license
  • Water Treatment Class 1 (minimum) or Limited Surface Water
  • Water Distribution & Supply Class 1 (recommended)

Physical Demands

  • Able to lift/drag object weighing up to 25kg
  • Able to gain entry into confined spaces and to be able to perform role as top-person in confined space situations
