Project Manager – Watershed Management

Permanent, full-time leadership opportunity with Hamilton Water in Hamilton, ON

Are you a qualified professional – such as a Professional Engineer or Certified Engineering Technologist – with knowledge of watershed & infrastructure planning? Are you poised to take the next step in your career? If so, this role with the City of Hamilton’s Water and Wastewater Capital Planning team is for you.

As a skilled Project Manager whose experience includes the analysis and preliminary design of stormwater infrastructure, you’re well equipped to lead projects and planning efforts related to stormwater collection and management, development planning, low impact development, and climate change adaptation. This all-encompassing role will see you developing project scopes, budgets and schedules, procuring and managing consulting services, and delivering projects in a cost-effective, timely manner, as well as performing hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, modelling and technical reviews.

Your qualifications as a Project Manager – Watershed Management include:

  • Proven demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Watershed & Infrastructure Planning with a focus on Stormwater Management, usually acquired through a degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or a similar discipline, or through a combination of relevant education and work experience.
  • Applied experience in the analysis and preliminary design of stormwater infrastructure, hydrology, and relevant stormwater and development planning regulations and engineering standards.
  • Demonstrated project management experience in the field of civil infrastructure and/or watershed management, preferably including projects for stormwater collection and retention, hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, and land development/approvals.
  • Experience and training in hydrologic and/or hydraulic computer model use, development and calibration, using software such as MIKE Urban, Infoworks, SWMM/XPSWMM, HEC/HECRAS, HYMO/SWMHYMO or similar.
  • Well developed written and oral communication, organizational and time management skills, with presentation, public and agency consultation, and report-writing experience.
  • Licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the Province of Ontario in good standing with PEO, preferred. Candidates eligible for P.Eng. licensure within six months, or registered with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists, or equivalent, will also be considered.

NOTE: Must possess and maintain a Class “G” Driver’s Licence valid in the Province of Ontario, and a driving record found to be satisfactory to the City of Hamilton.

This CUPE Local 1041 Supv permanent, full-time position offers a wage range of $48.710 to $54.122 per hour (based on a 35-hour work week schedule).
