The Corporation of the Town of Perth is currently accepting applications for a permanent, full-time Utility Operator II.

Reporting to the Environmental Service Lead Hand, the Utility Operator II is responsible for the operation, construction, and maintenance of the water distribution and wastewater systems, and the road network in accordance with approved policies and procedures. The Utility Operator II will also provide backup to other Environmental Services functions, including the Water Treatment and Sewage Treatment Facilities.

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Demonstrated competency with heavy construction equipment including but not limited to Backhoes, Front End Loaders and Side Walk Tractors;
  • Level I certification in Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection in good standing with Ontario Ministry of the Environment;
  • Grade 12 Diploma (minimum level of education required for position);
  • DZ license (clear driver’s abstract) in good standing with the Ministry of the Transportation;
  • 1-2 years’ municipal or related experience;
  • Either has or is willing to obtain OIT Certification in Water and Sewage Treatment or will have the goal of obtaining the Level #1 Certification with-in two years of start date.
  • Presentation of Clear Driver’s Abstract in good standing with the Ministry of Transportation.
  • Presentation of a clear Criminal Records Check prior to employment.

This position is placed on the “C” Panel (current hourly rate of $23.38 to $27.85). This is a 40 hour per week position. A complete job description is available upon request.
