Located within the broader GTA, in southern Simcoe County, Bradford West Gwillimbury is a thriving municipality. Major investments have been made to the Town’s Wastewater infrastructure which includes an expanded state of the art Water pollution Control Plant, new Pumping Stations and multiple kilometres of Sanitary Sewers and Forcemains.

Reporting to the Wastewater Treatment Plant Supervisor/ Wastewater Collections Supervisor, this position will be part of the team responsible for day-to-day operation and maintenance of the state of the art Class IV Water Pollution Control Plant and Class III Wastewater Collection System. Primary function of this position is to operate and maintain the Class IV WPCP within the regulations specified in the Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA), under the direction of the Plant Supervisor. Secondary function includes operations and maintenance of the Class III Wastewater Collection System and pumping stations by use of Towns Vactor truck for sewer flushing, minor mainline and lateral repairs and CCTV Camera inspection of sewers. Duties include aspects of collecting and processing samples, plant operation, maintenance, inspection and repair of the Town’s Wastewater treatment plant, pumping stations, sanitary sewer system and will include interaction with customers, developers, contractors, and others under the direct supervision of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Supervisor. As part of the Wastewater Operational team, the applicant will be required to take part in an afterhours “On Call / Stand By” rotation.

The successful applicant will hold an MOE OIT license or above for wastewater treatment and wastewater collection, combined with solid technical skills and the ability to communicate effectively, professionally and courteously with all levels of staff, developers, contractors and the general public. Knowledge and experience in similar Wastewater Operations, Vactor truck operations, CCTV Sewer Camera inspection, computers, SCADA/PLC’s and computerized maintenance management systems(CMMS) is required. In addition, candidates with a college background in Environmental Studies or related Wastewater training courses are preferred. The applicant will be required to commit to obtaining higher Wastewater licenses within a specific timeframe as an ongoing condition of employment.

The successful candidate must possess a valid class G driver’s licence in good standing with reliable transportation. A Class DZ licence is required but may be obtained within a year of hire.

The Town offers an attractive hourly wage rate of $25.25 (OIT operator) to $41.64 (Class 4 Operator). The hourly rate commensurate with achieved level of certification plus a competitive benefit package, and an opportunity to grow with us.
