has openings for two positions

The Township of Tay is located in north Simcoe County on the shores of Severn Sound
(Georgian Bay) with a permanent population of 10,000. Tay is a rural and small urban municipality,
and includes the communities of Port McNicoll, Victoria Harbour, Waubaushene and Waverley.
Residents enjoy an excellent quality of life and a wide range of recreational and cultural
opportunities. The Water and Wastewater Division operates two water treatment plants and two
wastewater treatment plants and services approximately 3000 customers.

WATER AND WASTEWATER OPERATIONS SUPERINTENDENT

Due to an upcoming retirement, the Township will be hiring a Water and Wastewater Operations
Superintendent. Reporting to the Director of Public Works, the Water and Wastewater Superintendent
is responsible for the general administration and supervision of treatment plants, wastewater
collection and water distribution. The Superintendent ensures compliance with legislation and
Township policies and the protection of public health and safety.

The successful applicant must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in water and wastewater
treatment, with 2 years in a supervisory position. They must possess or be willing to obtain
M.O.E.C.C. Operators Licences to the rating of Township facilities (currently WTIII, WDII, WWTII,
WWCII). Two or three years’ post-secondary education at the community college level in a related
field of technology or several years’ experience and related courses is required. A good working
knowledge of computers is necessary.

The compensation for this position includes a comprehensive benefit package and a pay range of
$37.08 to $43.67 per hour. The base work week is 40 hours with a variety of standby, overtime and
emergency call-out duties. Candidates must reside within a reasonable distance of Township
facilities or be willing to relocate.

WATER AND WASTEWATER OPERATIONS LEAD HAND

As part of a succession plan the Township will be hiring a Water and Wastewater Operations Lead
Hand. Reporting to the Water and Wastewater Superintendent, the Lead Hand is responsible to direct
the day to day operation and maintenance of all municipal water and wastewater systems and
facilities in an effective and efficient manner to ensure compliance with all governing
legislation. The Lead Hand performs supervisory functions to ensure the completion of projects and
tasks as assigned to water wastewater staff.

Applicants must have several years’ experience in water and wastewater treatment and the related
systems. Candidates must possess or be willing to obtain M.O.E.C.C. Operators Licences to the
rating of Township facilities (currently WTIII, WDII, WWTII, WWCII). Two or three years’
post-secondary education at the Community College level in a related field of technology or several
years’ experience and related courses is
required. A good working knowledge of computers is necessary.

range of $27.74 to $32.66 per hour. The base work week is 40 hours with a variety of standby,
overtime and emergency call-out duties. Candidates must reside within a reasonable distance of
Township facilities or be willing to relocate.
