Department requires Water/Wastewater Infrastructure Inspector

(Regular Full-Time, 40 hours per week)

 

Reporting to the Supervisor, Water/Wastewater, the Water/Wastewater Infrastructure Inspector will be responsible for liaising between Water/Wastewater Operations and other Town department staff with respect to water and wastewater infrastructure planning and capital project delivery, new development and permit and approval processing. Works closely with Town consultants to inspect work completed by contractors who are connecting to the Town’s water, wastewater and stormwater systems to determine compliance to Town’s design standards and applicable regulations and operational considerations as well as testing, inspection, commissioning, handover and security deposits for new development.

 

How do I qualify?

  • Post secondary diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or related field combined with solid working experience in water/wastewater inspection and/or combination of education and experience.
  • Certification with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) as a Certified Engineering Technologist or be registered in an approved equivalent professional association.
  • Demonstrated directly related experience on water and wastewater construction supervision in a Municipal environment including managing inspections of new development projects, linear and discrete construction projects, project management experience,
  • Demonstrated  working knowledge of municipal infrastructure drawings with the ability to interpret and comment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction practices, design, inspection, commissioning and layout for interpretation in the field.
  • Working knowledge of municipal  water, wastewater and stormwater systems, design, guidelines, Ontario Provincial standards and all applicable regulatory legislation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and applicable Acts, regulations, codes and guidelines related to new development, engineering projects and approvals.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable Acts and regulations related to water/wastewater and stormwater servicing, including the Safe Drinking Water Act, 2002.
  • Working knowledge of municipal infrastructure drawings with the ability to interpret and comment.
  • Demonstrated project coordination/management skills to provide direction to others, organize numerous tasks, set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in the use of computer programs, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook), ArcGIS, and other applicable industry software and various agency reporting/tracking requirements.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and to exercise judgement.
  • Excellent written, oral and presntation communication skills, interpersonal, public relations, organizational and co-ordination skills.
  • Class “G” Driver’s Licence in good standing with own reliable vehicle to use daily on corporate business.

 

 

Salary: $56,101 – $70,126
